Procrastination can ruin your business, here are four tips that really help me stay focused,
1) Do what you enjoy the most first!
I homeschool my daughter and I notice that when I am trying to get her focused on a task, it is so much easier to get her started with her favorite subject. Not only is she excited to start working, but she continues working through the hard stuff because it is routine at that point. I noticed that when she started learning something new, it often made her nervous and she would immediately complain and refuse to do her work. I believe this can happen to us as well, have you ever had an issue come up first thing in the morning and get so frustrated and go back to bed or change your focus. Try starting off your work day with a fun task you really enjoy and see if that helps you get and stay focused.
2) Always Leave Something Important To Do Tomorrow.
When I am working on creating invoices, I always leave one or two to work on in the morning. Why? Because my mind keeps reminding me to work on it. When I get up in th morning and think about my plan for the day the invoices keep popping up in my mind and that motivates me to get up early and get to work. Once I start working I get into my routine and I am always more productive.
3) Have a Big Long Term Why and Short Term Goals!
It is fun to achieve a goal and get the prize! I have a five year dream board with big projects and desires listed. I also have a smaller dream board with items and projects I want to complete within the next 90 days. When I complete the short term items it really makes me feel a strong sense of accomplishment. Even when I am not seeing the huge results I was really hoping for in my business. When I see that I am accomplishing something it keeps me invested and motivated to do more.
4) When you work hard, you need to play hard too. I remember a time in my life that I worked two jobs and a legit side hustle and had lots of money but no close friends or free time to spend my money. Then there was a time where I quit my second job and I had lots of extra time but no money to go out. I really love to sing karaoke and I learned really quickly that working hard and attending weekly karaoke night(s), actually helped me make more money with my home based business! I was happier and had something to look forward to. When I would arrive at karaoke, people would wave at me to sit at their table and they would have songs picked out to sing with me. Meeting new people and making new friends was very easy for me. I noticed that when people liked, knew, and trusted me, that is when my business was doing the best and I was not procrastinating at all.
